Rangefinder Magazine
Rangefinder, a trade magazine aimed at portrait and wedding photographers, printed an article about my Family Resemblance Project in their June issue. The features editor, Libby Peterson, contacted me after hearing about the project. We did a quick interview and then I sent her a number of photographs to select for inclusion in the article.
One of the things I find fascinating is which images different photo editors choose to include. I know which ones are my favorites, but as I’ve been working on this project for the past 9 months I’ve learned that we don’t all see family resemblance in the exact same way. There are photos were I think the resemblance is really strong, but others don’t see it (and the opposite is true, too).
I’ve come to the realization that this project will probably end up as a book, because that’ll be one of the best ways to see a large number of the photos at the same time. I’ve also decided that I’ll probably need a good photo editor to help me comb through the thousands of images I’ve shot, and select the best ones to convey the concept of family resemblance.
