—”How are you?” I asked.
—”I’m dealing with a bout of good ol’ bout of imposter syndrome right now” she texted back.
—”I know what you mean. I feel that a lot….If you want to meet up for a coffee or to shoot, I’d be happy to do that.”
That’s how this project started; my friend Rita and I wanted to do something together to recharge our creative batteries. She’s connected to so many people in the creative community, and the next thing I know I was standing, camera in hand, in a beautiful art installation in the Northup King Building, with a striking-looking model, who was wearing this amazing looking clothing. It pays to know cool people!
This was a true collaboration: Araya had visual examples of what she thought would look good; Greta barely needed any direction (every time I’d take a picture she’d strike another amazing pose); and Rita kept her eye on the big picture. She and I have worked together enough that we know each other’s strengths.
At the end of the session, I don’t think anybody in that room felt like an imposter.
