It’s fun to pretend you’re a fashion photographer, even if it’s just for one day.
I met Jackie Tabb when we did the Fusion + Fusion shoot together last fall, and the two of us got together soon after to discuss a project where we could create some images for both of our portfolios. Jackie is interested in doing more modeling, and so we met at her house to look over her wardrobe and select some interesting outfits to shoot.
We shot in a warehouse where my friend, Scott McGlasson of Woodsport, recently moved his shop. The warehouse was only minimally heated, and it was about 50 degrees in there. Nevertheless Jackie was a trooper and made it all look so effortless.
I loved everything about this day; it’s great to work with a beautiful model to get a variety of looks in a short amount of time. I gained more confidence in my own lighting abilities, and in showcasing different wardrobe options. But the most fun for me was to do a levitation shot to show off one of Jackie’s gauzy dresses. I’d been researching levitation photography for a while, and was eager to try it out.
Huge thanks to Jackie for being such a great model to work with, and to stylist Kate Dixon, who is talented and clever enough to make $50 look like $5000.
