This past week has been a fun one for me because I got to work with one of my favorite brands, Blu Dot, a Minneapolis-based designer and maker of modern home furnishings. Those of you who know me (or my photographs) are aware that I have a little red chair which I have photographed in numerous places around the country. I love the surprise of seeing something in a location where you don’t expect it.
With that in mind, I approached the creative team at Blu Dot, asking if we could partner on a project where I’d feature some of their super cool chairs in some of my favorite Minneapolis locations. To my delight they agreed, and after some careful planning with them, I spent a couple of mornings with my good friend, Tim, hauling these chairs around in my car. (Note to self: get bigger vehicle.)
All of these photos were shot with available light, so we had to schedule everything to get to each location at the optimal time. We got a number of funny looks (and several offers from strangers to sit down on one of the chairs) but for the most part people would smile when they saw what we were doing, which was the reaction I was hoping for.
The photos rolled one this past week, one per day, on Blu Dot’s social media channels, and the response was really positive.
